On Monday, June 3, 2024, a lecture entitled "Learning about the Basics of Intellectual Property" was given by Associate Professor Lee Young-sook of Faculty of Liberal Arts Department of Sociology Faculty of Letters, Teikyo University, during the class on "Basics of Social Business Practice." The lecture featured Professor Kimura Tomohisa Teikyo University Center for General Education, who specializes in intellectual property law.
The Social Business Practice Basics course is taken throughout the year, along with the Social Business Practice course offered in the second semester. It is a PBL (project-based learning) type class conducted with the cooperation of social enterprises active in the area surrounding our Hachioji Campus, with the aim of organically connecting students' careers with their university studies and practicing learning and contributing to the local community. This year, with the cooperation of two NPOs, students were divided into three groups and considered making goods and videos. In the 10th class, the representatives of each group gave presentations on the plans they were considering, and Professor Kimura gave various advice, such as points to note about the copyrights of music and images used as materials, how to decide on the rights of the videos and goods produced, and things to be careful of when exhibiting at a museum.
The students will continue to make preparations for events and museum exhibitions in the second semester, including holding discussions with the NPO and producing merchandise and videos.
