On Tuesday, May 28, 2024, a special graduate award was presented to graduate Kazuki Kanda (graduated from Faculty of Law in 2022) by Chairman and President Yoshihito Okinaga at Teikyo University's Hachioji Campus. This special award was given to Kanda for winning the Encouragement Award of the 9th Oda Shigeru Award, sponsored by the International Law Association, for a thesis he wrote while enrolled in the Faculty of Law.
When Kanda wrote her paper for the Oda Shigeru Award, she wrote it on the theme of "The principle of exhaustion of domestic remedies in individual communication procedures related to the Convention on the Rights of the Child - focusing on unaccompanied children." There had been no Japanese-language paper on this theme until now, and she was recognized for being the first to write a paper based on English materials and papers. Our university has never had a recipient of the Oda Shigeru Award before, so Kanda's receiving the Oda Shigeru Award is a great honor for our university, and she was presented with a special alumni award. We look forward to Kanda's continued success and will continue to support our active graduates.
