On Tuesday, September 17, 2024, the Pakui Seminar Faculty of Law Department of Political Science, Teikyo University invited three guest speakers from two organizations that work with local governments to solve local issues, to give lectures on the topics of food waste and employment for people with disabilities.
Mr. Takehiro Sato, representative of mix`SDG, which works with local governments in the Tama region, mainly in Sagamihara, to combat food waste, spoke about how, with the cooperation of government agencies and others, they are using disaster preparedness food from companies and other sources that is close to its expiration date to reduce food waste in collaboration with children's cafeterias and events. Mr. Ryo Kuki and Mr. Takuma Niibori of the general incorporated association Social Farm Millet Road spoke about the operation of a business that provides employment support for people with disabilities in the Tama region and the situation on the ground at a Type B business that supports continued employment. This lecture was an opportunity for seminar students to once again recognize the importance of solving local issues and welfare policies.
The three Senior Assistant Professor who gave this lecture will also cooperate in planning the SDGs lunch box "Cutting-edge disaster food" that the Pakui Seminar will set up at the Seisha Festival to be held on Saturday, October 26th and Sunday, October 27th. We also helped with the preparations for the project, such as bringing in supplies.
The Pakui seminar believes that "there is a lot to learn through interactions with many people and through practical experience," and will further deepen its research into local government through this lecture and the practical experience at the Seisha Festival.
