On Friday, February 21, 2025, students from Faculty of Education of Department of Elementary Education, Teikyo University participated in the "Shichitoku Rainbow Terrace," a meeting with Teikyo University alumni held at Tokyo Metropolitan Nanao Special Needs School (Hino City, Tokyo). The department is working on educational collaboration with Nanao Special Needs School, and this was the first attempt to organize a meeting and school tour for our students.
At the meeting, the principal of the school, Kazuyoshi Kurosawa, gave an overview of the school, followed by three alumni who spoke about the appeal and rewards of special needs education to students aiming to become teachers, and sent warm messages to the students. After the school tour, the students split into groups and asked the alumni questions about the work content at Nanao Special Needs School and what they should prepare for during their time at university, engaging in lively exchanges.
Students from our university commented that it was very meaningful to be able to hear valuable stories from our seniors, and that it was a valuable opportunity to consider their future career choices. In addition, teachers from Nanao Special Needs School said that they would like to continue holding events like this in the future and deepen educational collaboration with our students.
The Department of Department of Elementary Education Faculty of Education will continue to promote educational collaboration with Nanao Special Needs School and strive to contribute to the local community and develop educational activities.
