The Mori Seminar at Hachioji Campussold apple pies to support the Vietnamese village of Pham Lap

On Saturday, February 8, 2025, the seminar of Yoshihiro Mori, Associate Professor Teikyo University Center for General Education, sold apple pies at the Parthenon Boulevard Marche held in front of Tama Center Station, and donated the entire proceeds, excluding processing and transportation costs, to Pham Lap Village in Vietnam.
The Mori seminar is a career design seminar with the aim of helping students acquire the skills to succeed in society. In addition to regular lectures, students are divided into "vegetable group," "Vietnam group," "sports group," and "media group" and carry out a variety of activities.

This project was led by students in the vegetable group, who decided to make and donate apple pies to support the village after the lychee trees in Pham Lap Village, Vietnam, which has ties to the Mori Seminar, died in a typhoon. The seminar students harvested apples from Mori Apples, an apple tree owned by the Mori Seminar in Yonezawa City, Yamagata Prefecture, under the guidance of Yoshimasa Oka, a graduate of the Mori Seminar and now a farmer, and then worked on making apple pies with the cooperation of the city's agricultural cooperative, Mugiwaraboshi.
On the day of the sale, the seminar students worked hard to attract customers with short, easy-to-understand words and to arrange the products in a way that would give the impression that there was a lot of product available. Thanks to their efforts, all 350 apple pies were sold out. Donations will be used to plant lychees in Pham Lap Village, Vietnam. One of the seminar students commented, "Through the process from marketing to production and sales, we were able to gain experience and knowledge that we could not have gained through classroom learning. We realize that our success was due to the cooperation of many people, and we are grateful for this environment."
Teikyo University will continue to support students' practical activities.
