Keishin Imazaki of Hachioji Campusbaseball team won the "UNIVAS AWARDS 2024-25" Man of the Year Grand Prize

On Monday, March 3, 2025, the "UNIVAS AWARDS 2024-25" awards ceremony hosted by the University Sports Association was held at Shinagawa Intercity Hall (Minato-ku, Tokyo), where Keiichi Imazaki (4th year, Department of Medical Technology) of Teikyo University's baseball team won the Man of the Year Grand Prize. He also won the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Award.
The UNIVAS AWARDS recognize not only athletic achievements, but also outstanding achievements in academic enrichment, safety and security, and the promotion of university sports, and recognize students in athletic clubs and students, alumni, instructors and organizations involved in sports who have contributed to embodying the UNIVAS philosophy.

As the captain of our university's baseball team, Imazaki led the team to victory in the league for the first time in seven years and to advance to the top eight in the All Japan University Baseball Championship. He returned to the team despite suffering from injuries and showed his competitive spirit. He worked hard to create an environment where the younger students could thrive, strengthening the unity of the team. He also completed a teacher training course and worked hard to balance his studies with athletics, and was involved in social contribution activities such as cleaning up the local area and teaching baseball to elementary school students. Imazaki, who has always been considerate of those around him and has shown exemplary behavior, commented, "I didn't expect to be selected for the top award, so I'm very surprised. Baseball is a team sport. I think the results of working with everyone on the team led to this award." After graduating from university, Imazaki plans to play amateur baseball and aim to be the best in Japan, so we can expect great things from him in the future.

Other students from our university who received the Excellence Award were Kento Haruta (4th year Faculty of Education) and the Teikyo Sports Supporters Association. As a member of the Japanese national wheelchair basketball team, Haruta has achieved brilliant results in domestic and international competitions, including winning the U23 World Championships. He also completed a teacher training course and developed a unique lesson on the theme of barrier-free access during his teaching practice, and was recognized for his efforts in promoting understanding of diversity, which led to him receiving the Para-Athlete of the Year Excellence Award. In addition, Ryo Taguchi (4th year, Faculty Faculty of Economics), who participated in the award ceremony on behalf of the Teikyo Sports Supporters Association, promoted activities to raise interest in watching games, such as experience events for designated strengthening clubs and the RED PROJECT, a support project, run by students, and promoted the promotion of awareness of sports clubs and the fostering of school spirit. His efforts to promote exchanges both inside and outside the university and to establish a culture of "watching" and "supporting" sports were recognized, and he received the Excellence Award for University Sports Promotion Outstanding Initiatives.
