Utsunomiya CampusAssociate Professor Miyamoto of Faculty of Science and Engineering receives the Agricultural Chemistry Encouragement Award

At the 2025 Annual Meeting of the Agricultural Chemical Society of Japan, held at the Sapporo Convention Center (Sapporo City) from Tuesday, March 4th to Saturday, March 8th, 2025, Associate Professor Koji Miyamoto of the Department Faculty of Science and Engineering Department of Biosciences Teikyo University, received the 2025 Agricultural Chemistry Encouragement Award and gave an award lecture.
Our society is one of the leading academic societies for researchers in the fields of chemistry and biology related to keywords such as life, food, and the environment, and is a large society with approximately 9,000 members.
The title of the award that Associate Professor Miyamoto received is "Research on the biosynthesis of antibacterial secondary metabolites in rice and their control mechanism," and he contributed to elucidating the evolution of the biosynthesis of phytoalexins, which function in the defense response of rice to stress, and the transcriptional control mechanism of the biosynthetic genes. In the future, it is expected that this will be applied to strengthening the stress resistance of agricultural crops and to disease and pest control technology.
