Teikyo Kenko Hiroba Health Lecture was held at the Teikyo University Itabashi Campus on Saturday, March 1, 2025. This lecture is held twice a year as an open lecture by faculty members of the Department of Nursing, Faculty of Medical Technology, with the aim of providing local residents with tips on how to live a healthy life.
This time, the theme was "Protect your life from disasters!" and seven people who have experienced disasters or are interested in disasters participated. Professor Yuko Miki of the Department Department of Nursing Faculty of Medical Technology, explained the importance of creating a "timeline" to determine the actions to be taken in the event of a disaster, and the need to check the hazard map to see in advance the areas expected to be affected and evacuation sites. Participants were then asked to think about what they would need during an evacuation and for life in evacuation shelters.
Junko Tabata, Senior Assistant Professor in the Department Department of Nursing Faculty of Medical Technology, explained what to do if you cannot wash your hands with soap and running water at an evacuation shelter, how much medicine to bring, and how to make a lantern that will be useful in the event of a power outage. Finally, participants shared their experiences during disasters, which was a good opportunity to raise awareness of disaster preparedness.
In addition to the twice-yearly health lectures, Teikyo Kenko Hiroba also holds health consultations once a month (on the third Wednesday from 12:30 to 14:30). The department will continue to take part in initiatives that will help promote the health of local residents.
