Hachioji CampusTeifukukai held a mock trial

On Wednesday, March 26, 2025, the Teiho-kai held a mock trial at the Teikyo University Hachioji Campus Moot Courtroom. The Teiho-kai is a legal club whose activities aim to provide a forum for legal discussion, to help students aim for law Graduate School or qualifications, and to use the knowledge they acquire to develop legal thinking skills.
On the day of the mock trial, the participants were divided into lawyers and prosecutors and debated two issues: "Issues regarding the relationship between crimes such as trespass and freedom of expression" and "Issues regarding the success or failure of self-defense." In the question and answer session, sharp points were made from each perspective, leading to heated discussions.
The first-year students who led the discussions made many comments such as, "I realized that my own knowledge and perspective are still shallow and narrow," "I felt that I didn't try hard enough," and "I felt that I am lacking in ability." However, they also made some positive comments about their future studies, saying, "It was a good opportunity to realize how limited my knowledge is," and "The opinions we received from our teachers and seniors in the general evaluation allowed us to gain various perspectives. I would like to consider various issues on a daily basis."
Faculty members from Faculty of Law also participated and provided commentary on the day, making it a meaningful experience for the participants to gain a wide range of knowledge that can be applied not only to Teihokai activities but also to their future studies.
