Graduates and Dean Mihara attend the opening ceremony of "#RESTation," a youth information hub at Omuta Station on the FukuokaFukuoka Campus

On Saturday, March 29, 2025, the opening ceremony for the Omuta Station youth information hub "#RESTation" * was held inside Omuta Station. Teikyo University graduates Yuuka Sasayama (graduated from Faculty of Fukuoka Medical Technology in 2024) and Yuki Fukushima (graduated from Faculty of Fukuoka Medical Technology in 2024) attended the opening ceremony along with Dean Futoshi Mihara, who cut the ribbon and gave speeches.
Sasayama and Fukushima were involved in deciding the name of the facility at a workshop for the Omuta Station Youth Information Hub Development Project that they participated in while they were students, which led to them attending this event.

Omuta Station is a key transportation hub in Omuta City, served by the JR Kagoshima Main Line and Nishi-Nippon Railroad, and is used by approximately 14,000 people per day. Many students from high schools, technical colleges, and universities use the station. In response to feedback from users such as "There is no place to spend time while waiting for trains or buses inside the station" and "We don't receive information about the city. We want to share our own information as well," "#RESTation" was developed as a base for young people to share information and wait. With the cooperation of JR and Nishi-Nippon Railroad, as well as the installation of digital signage and air conditioning equipment donated by local companies, we hope that "#RESTation" will be used by many young people and local residents in the future, the area around the station will become lively, and this will lead to an attachment to Omuta.

  • * A coined word combining REST (rest) and Station (station).
