On Saturday, May 10, 2025, the Teikyo University Calligraphy Club performed a calligraphy performance at the 28th Hino Shinsengumi Festival event held at Nanasei Public Hall (Hino City, Tokyo). The Hino Shinsengumi Festival is a major event in Hino City, with a variety of events held in various areas of the city over two days.
The calligraphy club performed at a pre-event for the Shinsengumi Corps Contest, which decides the captain of the Shinsengumi Corps Parade, the main event of the festival. They wrote "Sincerity and Flash of Light" on four panels, as well as parts of the lyrics of "Tears of the Sixteenth Night." The audience erupted in applause when the completed works were displayed. The "Makoto" (Sincerity) on the title of the sign and in the background was also written by a calligraphy club member specifically for this contest. Teikyo University's Calligraphy Club will continue to give back the results of its calligraphy education and research to the local community, and will promote stronger ties with the local community through contributions to tourism promotion and regional revitalization.
