In the 3rd year, the Department of Education and Culture offers two course selections, the "Lifelong Learning Course" and the "Secondary Education Course," for more in-depth and specialized study with an eye to future careers. This course selection is an opportunity to support students to develop their prospects proactively.
Lifelong learning courses teach education and culture. We hope that students acquire knowledge and skills that are useful not only for educational institutions but also for general companies in this course, and will give them the ability to aim for a variety of career choices. Education cannot be summed up in one word, but it can be said, for example, "cultivates and develops innate and acquired abilities and qualities as much as possible, helping people to grow unique individuals and to live happy as member of society".
Students will be awarded a Bachelor of Arts in Education upon graduation from a lifelong learning course. Here, "Arts" can be broadly regarded as a culture created by humans. In this course, we would like you to learn education and culture as two wheels.
Culture is also diverse. One thing to consider is that currently 7 billion people live on one spaceship Earth, but in the next few decades it will reach 9 billion. At such times, it will be difficult to build a sustainable society unless people living in different climates and traditions share the underlying values. In other words, understanding diverse cultures is essential. Education is not limited to schools, but companies, communities and various organizations are thinking about education in the space and time. Lifelong learning is truly one of the important cultural activities of human beings. we hope that students will study education and culture in the 4th year of university, gain a lot of strength, and help create a society where both their generation and their grandchildren can live affluently.
The secondary education course is mainly for students who wish to become junior high school or high school teachers (sociology, geography and history, civics, English, health and physical education) to study independently. In the latter half 2nd year, students clarify their intention to choose a secondary education course, and from 3rd year onwards, as a student belonging to the course, they study the specialized subjects necessary for teachers in earnest and in depth.
As a course aimed at cultivating qualities and abilities as a teacher, from 1st year, the teaching theory (junior high school), educational principles (junior high school), and educational system and management (junior high school?High)”, “Mental and Physical Development and Learning Process (Middle/High)”, etc., and subjects related to subjects are subdivided according to the type of license desired to be acquired, and subjects are arranged so that students can study systematically. In addition, specializing in subjects necessary for the teaching profession, such as "Law (Teaching Profession)" and "Political Science (Teaching Profession)", we have also newly established subjects where you can learn general and comprehensive content.
In addition, through learning from 1st year such as "Living in Society" and "Pursuit of Learning" in "Contemporary Educational Issues", we aim to develop teachers with knowledge of lifelong learning and understand the reality of school education. With the aim of cultivating teachers with practical teaching skills backed by subject expertise and rich knowledge and skills, I am trying to improve my learning.
At the same time, we have prepared a guidance system that allows us to provide a wide range of consultations regarding study, life, and career paths for becoming a teacher, such as by dividing students into several groups and appointing supervising teachers.
