?
Foster nursing professionals with high vocational awareness as a nurse and broad perspective

?

In addition to small-group lectures that provide detailed guidance, students independently learn through various learning forms such as group work, exercises, inspections, and practical training, and foster a high level of vocational awareness as a nurse. In addition, they actively study areas that are currently attracting attention in the field of nursing, and acquire a broad perspective and expertise to meet the new demands of the times.

Department of Nursing Close-UP

Life Design Seminar I
All first-year students learn how to study at university (such as literature search and report writing) which is essential for a meaningful university life. They also acquire the mindset and attitude that will be the basis for ethical judgment, and acquire the foundation for learning the knowledge, skills, and attitude required of nurses. Since we cater to individual needs, students can acquire the necessary skills at their own pace and challenge themselves to learn more advanced studies.

カリキュラム

In 1st year will study general education subjects together with students from other departments while advancing in the basic learning that will become the foundation of nursing. Students will begin studying specialized subjects in 1st year, and in the second and 3rd year students will pursue deeper specialized fields while also taking part in clinical training to improve their practical nursing skills. In 4th year, students will continue their training while integrating the nursing studies they have learned up to that point and studying based on their career plans.

Class Introduction

General Education

Medical Communication Theory I/II
Nurses require specialized communication skills when providing care to patients and their families. Students will learn basic communication knowledge and techniques based on academic and cultural backgrounds, and deepen their thinking through their own experiences and examples. Through group work, we aim to express ourselves and discover issues in our own communication. Next, we will use assertions and reflections to understand the characteristics of diverse communication in nursing settings. Through communication, you will learn about yourself and others and acquire skills to build better interpersonal relationships.

Specialized Fields

Daily life assistance technology
People casually carry out their daily lives such as eating, excreting, sleeping, and bathing. However, people who needs nursing have health problems and are living with problems in their daily lives. In this lecture, students consider and practice what is daily life, what are the obstacles to daily life, and what kind of assistance is needed while valuing the will of those who cannot do daily life on their own and the dignity of individuals, and acquire the ability. Nursing is a science of practice. Students understand the scientific basis in the lecture and learn it through exercises with model dolls and classmates. It is also an exercise to think in the role of a patient, thinking from the patient's point of view, which is important for learning skills as a nurse. They think about the patient's thoughts and acquire the basic knowledge and ability to help them lead their daily lives.

Basic nursing practice
We motivate students to learn nursing by observing and experiencing the actual nursing activities at an early stage where medical care and nursing are provided. This training is conducted in the first half of the 1st grade and consists of on-campus orientation, hospital training, and on-campus summarization. At the hospital, clinical lectures, outline explanations and inspection of hospital facilities, equipment and each department are given. And students learn what the hospital like is to provide with medical care and nursing, and what types of professions are involved in medical and nursing. Students act with nurses, observe and experience the flow of the day in the ward and nursing for patients, and learn the grounds and meanings. On the final day of the training, they summarize and present each lesson in the group. Through interacting with hospitalized patients and observing nursing, they experience the difficulty and joy of nursing. Nurses learn a lot about the importance of knowledge, skills, and attitudes, consideration for patients, and responsibility for behavior, which leads to further learning motivation for nursing.

Midwife course

Practical Midwifery III
In order to respond to the coming ultra-low birthrate and aging society, students will be selected to enter the midwife course in the second semester 2nd year. In this class, students will learn basic techniques for ultrasound operation, childbirth assistance, and suturing minor perineal tears based on midwifery diagnosis, the core of midwifery, in order to acquire a wide range of advanced knowledge and skills related to midwifery. In addition, in the "Normal Childbirth Assistance Method" class, students will practice assisting in a variety of childbirth positions and learn a wide range of methods for supporting childbirth. They will also acquire qualifications in neonatal asphyxia resuscitation, ensuring that they acquire basic knowledge and skills.

Public health teacher course

Health Crisis Management
Public health centers are specialized, technical and wide-area bases for local health care, and play a central role in health crisis management in the region. Municipal public health nurses also play an active role during large-scale disasters such as earthquakes and floods. Our university holds a selection exam for the public health nurse course in the second semester 2nd year. In the health crisis management course, students learn in classrooms about "work related to the prevention of the occurrence, spread and treatment of health damage in the event of a situation that threatens the lives and health safety of the people," and then in the practical training, they deepen their learning at each training public health center and municipality based on actual events that have occurred.

On-site training

As the aging society progresses and medical skills are required more and more, the Department of Nursing focuses on practical training courses from the 1st grade in order to train nurses who acquired advanced nursing skills and communication skills with staff of other occupations.

Practical training / Seminars schedule

Practical training / Seminars schedule

During the first and 2nd year practical training, students observe the actual activities of a nurse and experience interacting with the patients they care for. In 3rd year, students undergo practical training at medical institutions and local health facilities. They are responsible for actual patients and acquire the skills to be immediately effective in the field of Team Medical Care. In the first semester 4th year, students undergo integrated training as a culmination of their practical training, raising their awareness as nurses.

On-site training

On-site training

In Department of Nursing, students begin their practical training from 1st year in order to deepen their knowledge by experiencing actual medical settings from an early stage and to develop medical professionals who can think independently about and respond to current medical care and the environment surrounding it. In the practical training in 1st year and 2nd year, students will observe the actual activities of nurses and experience interactions with patients who require nursing care, integrating the nursing knowledge and skills learned in lectures and acquiring the basic abilities necessary for a nursing career.
In 3rd year, students undergo practical training at actual medical institutions and local health facilities. They are assigned to actual patients, learning and implementing nursing practices tailored to each patient. In addition, by interacting with staff from different professions, students will improve their communication skills and acquire the skills to be immediately effective in Team Medical Care setting. After that, in 4th year students undergo integrated training as a culmination of all their training. Based on the training in specialized fields they have completed up until now, they will increase their awareness as nurses.
This department also has courses for those who want to become public health nurses and midwife. After acquiring practical skills in each field through field-specific clinical training, students undergo clinical training in each course to further deepen their knowledge of public health nurses and midwife.

Grading Criteria

About our GPA System

We have introduced a GPA system as a grade evaluation system. By evaluating the learning outcomes with an objective numerical value called GPA, we clarify the grade evaluation, and it would be useful for the learning guidance of students. In addition, this system generally conforms to the grade evaluation system generally adopted by universities in Europe and the United States.
