At the Faculty of Medical Technology, Teikyo University, we train judo therapist who does not only acquire the knowledge of acquiring qualifications but also perform treatments from the patient's point of view. In recent years, it is also expected to play an active role in the welfare field as a sports trainer and a "functional training instructor" who maintains and strengthens the function of the legs and waist from the viewpoint of long-term care prevention.

About the Department of Judo Therapy
Aim to become judo therapist who understands the feelings of cells At the Teikyo University Faculty of Medical Technology, Department of Judo Therapy judo therapist can aim to become athletic trainers who can work in professional sports, or obtain a junior high or high school teaching license (health and physical education) by utilizing their knowledge of Judo Therapy, while still being focused on being a Judo Therapist. Teachers will provide detailed support to help you achieve your desired career path. In addition, Utsunomiya Campus is home to three faculties: medical, science and engineering, and humanities, supporting your learning from many angles.
In 1st year, students will acquire basic knowledge important for studying Judo Therapy, such as the structure (anatomy) and function (physiology) of the body, while also deepening their knowledge in areas such as the history of Judo Therapy and ethics in medical practice. In 2nd year will apply the basics and improve their medical knowledge, and from 3rd year, they will acquire clinical knowledge in areas such as Orthopedic Surgery surgery and Internal Medicine medicine, improving their application skills. In 4th year will aim to further improve their knowledge and skills through preparation for the national examination.
Sports conditioning theory (taping) This is a subject where students learn about taping, a form of conditioning for athletes. Taping is a method of applying or wrapping adhesive tape to parts of the body in a systematic manner according to the anatomical structure and mechanism of injury or disability, for the purposes of first aid for injuries, preventing recurrence, and preventing injuries and disabilities. Students will learn knowledge and skills through practical training and lectures on taping the feet, ankles, lower legs, knee joints, thighs and hip joints, lower back and chest, acromioclavicular joints and shoulder joints, elbow joints, and wrist and finger joints.
Structure of the human body (anatomy), functions of the human body (physiology) In order to be active as judo therapist, athletic trainer, sports trainer, or functional training instructor in the future, accurate knowledge and understanding of the structure and shape of the human body (anatomy) and its structure and function (physiology) is essential. It is difficult to understand the specialized subjects of judo therapy without mastering these fundamental medical subjects. We aim to develop the basic academic ability necessary to study judo therapy professionally by learning basic medical science (anatomy and physiology) from the cellular level to the whole body level.
臨床実習
From the 4th grade, clinical training begins on real site in the same way as in other departments. This department have practices at the attached Teikyo Toyosatodai Judo Therapy Office and the Hachioji Osteopathic Institute adjacent to the Hachioji Campus, and students surely acquire diagnostic and therapeutic techniques through the practical training. Through communication with patients on site, we train judo therapist who can be considerate of the other person.
Clinical training schedule
Clinical training is conducted at the attached osteopathic clinic. After learning how to write a clinical training chart, types of equipment, and effects in the pre-training, students practice deepening the understanding of the work of a judo therapist and reconfirm the necessary knowledge and required abilities. After the training, students hold a clinical training case review meeting for cases to deepen the understanding of clinical cases.

Clinical Training Subjects
Basic medical training Medicine is based on the knowledge of basic medicine, and the clinical system makes various applications based on this knowledge and uses it for treatment. The purpose of basic medical science training is to serve as a bridge to link the knowledge of basic medicine learned in the lower grades to clinical medicine in order to understand the clinical subjects as a judo therapist as the grade progresses. How the basic medical matters already learned are related to clinical practice and how they are applied, such as ultrasound, electromyogram, respiratory circulation, cutaneous sensation, pathological specimens, and anatomy department of Itabashi Campus School of School of Medicine. By dividing into small to medium groups with more than 10 themes such as anatomical body tours, students gain a solid understanding and acquire the attitude of thinking, investigating, and summarizing by themselves.
Training facility
Teikyo Toyosatodai Judo Therapy Office Teikyo Toyosatodai Judo Therapy Office was opened in April 2010 as a training facility for the Department of Judo Therapy. Normally, it is a general facility that can be used by local residents, and in the 4th grade, practical training is conducted using this therapy office. On actual site students acquire not only technology but also humanity and communication skills.
Teikyo Hachioji Judo Therapy Office Teikyo University Martial Arts Center, which opened in 2013, has an orthopedic clinic on the first floor, and students from this department can also do their training at the Hachioji Orthopedic Clinic. The Martial Arts Center is equipped with an orthopedic clinic and karate dojo on the first floor, a judo hall on the second floor, a kendo hall on the third floor, and a training room on the basement floor, making it a facility that combines practice, treatment, and training. It is a valuable place where you can experience up close the environment that supports athletes.
The purpose of introducing the GPA (Grade Point Average) system is to: 1) create a unified campus standard, 2) provide a highly impartial standard, and 3) be an internationally accepted standard in order to evaluate academic achievement through an objective numerical value. This system is based on the grading system adopted by many foreign universities. It is an indicator that can prove academic ability when studying abroad, entering a graduate school overseas, or finding employment at a foreign company.
