Features of the Teacher Education Curriculum at Hachioji Campus
We support both inside and outside the university
Introducing the activities of the Hachioji Campus in the teaching profession. In addition to on-campus activities, we also collaborate with people outside the university, such as interacting with the local community and with graduates who have become faculty members.
Activities of Teikyo University Center for Teacher Education
The Teikyo University Center for Teacher Education is located on Hachioji Campus and is an organization with its own independent facilities and equipment.
1. Various consultations and guidance
We provide consultation and guidance on teacher training courses, childcare worker training courses, teacher recruitment examinations and exam preparation, employment in childcare and welfare fields, and volunteer activities at schools and childcare and welfare facilities. We are available to both current students and alumni (students taking courses).
2. Our unique teacher recruitment exam preparation program
In order to prepare for the teacher recruitment examination, we hold study sessions for 1st and 2nd year students, 3rd and 4th year students, and last minute exam preparation sessions, as well as study sessions for students who have already been hired as teachers to strengthen their practical skills as teachers. We also provide individual guidance on the correction of essays that students write on their own, as well as interview practice and mock lessons.
3. Information provision
For the teacher recruitment examination, we hold information sessions every spring and fall, inviting a recruitment officer from a nearby local government's board of education to Senior Assistant Professor a lecture.
We provide guidance for the civil service exam for students who are aiming to become public servants in the childcare or welfare fields. We also hold meetings where graduates (those who have passed the exam) can talk about their experiences.
Materials that are useful for internships and job hunting, such as educational dictionaries, teaching-related books such as curriculum guidelines, local government guidelines for teacher recruitment, workbooks, childcare internship records and job hunting reports written by previous students, are also available for viewing.
4. Connecting with alumni through the "OB/OG Association"
We hold events such as the "Teikyo University Alumni Teachers' Association" and the "Alumni and Student Gathering" as a place for current students and alumni, and for alumni themselves, to interact and exchange information.
Facilities that will help you improve your practical skills
With the aim of turning the knowledge learned in the teacher training course and nursery teacher training course into skills that can be used in the real world, there are classrooms with special equipment on the "Teaching Practice Floor" for teachers and the "Childcare Practice Floor" for childcare workers. As a training ground for acquiring practical skills, it can be used not only for exam preparation and job hunting preparation, but also as a place to simulate teaching practice and childcare practice.
WEB-based teaching profession course chart
At Hachioji Campus, students taking teacher training courses are required to fill out an electronic "Teacher Training Course Record" to keep track of their course history and for the "Teacher Training Practical Exercises." Students fill out the teacher training course course status, grades, and review of their learning situation on the campus system at designated periods. Teachers in charge use this system to keep track of students' learning status and use it to help with instruction.
Utilization of GPA system
Hachioji Campus has introduced a GPA system. If the GPA score for all courses, including those in the teaching profession, falls below the specified standard, the student will not be allowed to take "educational training".
Cooperation with affiliated schools and public schools
We are promoting cooperation and cooperation with Teikyo Teikyo University Elementary School and Teikyo University Kindergarten on the Hachioji Campus, as well as nearby Teikyo University affiliated schools and public schools, so that students can directly interact with their children and learn practically at an early stage. Students go out to observe classes as part of regular lessons, and students are engaged in the work of school support volunteers in response to the requests of the school.
Community contribution activities
As a community contribution activity of Teikyo University, there is "TeikyoS Kids Club" organized by students and faculty members. This is a lesson for children, centered on the university faculty members and students, and open to the facilities and equipment of the university. We regularly hold various courses such as "Science", "Instrumental Exercise", "Swimming", "Basketball", and "Calligraphy" for children in Hachioji, Tama, and Hino City. It is a good opportunity to experience the practical teaching for students aiming to become teachers.
Implementation of replenishment program during summer holidays
Although it is not a regular class for which credits are accredited, we plan a program (intensive class) to train knowledge and skills in science experiments and practical training by utilizing the facilities and equipment of Teikyo University Elementary School during the summer holidays. We are carrying out. This program also includes classes that go out to the Tama River and practice. Students who participate and have good grades will be awarded a "Certificate of Completion" by the university.
Teikyo-kyoiku Alumni Association, Encouragement of Voluntary Seminars / Learning Circles
At Hachioji Campus, there is the "Teikyo-kyoiku Alumni Association," a learning, research, and exchange organization for graduates who have become teachers, current students, and current university faculty. Twice a year, various events are planned and opportunities for exchange are provided. The "Independent Seminar/Study Circle Exchange Meeting" is one of these.
In addition, in Faculty of Education, under the slogans of "Bringing the Wind of Scholarship to the Faculty of Education" and "Creating a Student Culture to Learn Proactively!" We encourage students' voluntary seminars and learning circles, and we agree that faculty members will support them.
